Where did your ancestors come from?

Before each monthly meeting, a Beginning Genealogy class is held from 11:15 to 12 noon. Guests are always welcome!

Join Henry Louis Gates, Jr. as he profiles the ancestry of eleven famous Americans and the historical events that brought their immigrant ancestors to this country.  "Faces of America", a four-part television series, begins Wednesday, February 10th, at 8 PM on Channel 8.

The next meeting of the BFGHS will take place Saturday, February 20th, at the Roosevelt District Tech Center, located at 6029 South Seventh Street in Phoenix.   The Beginner's Workshop will commence at 11:15 AM, followed by the regular monthly meeting and presentation from noon to 2 PM.

The Maricopa County Public Library system has used proceeds from its dedicated county tax revenues to purchase a subscription to Ancestry Library Edition and HeritageQuest for local municipal library systems.  Although Ancestry is limited to in-library use only, HeritageQuest is accessible remotely via the Phoenix Public Library website.  Look for it under the 'Research' tab.

On the weekend of October 29th-31, 2009, Dr. Mordecai Spriggs and Ms Barbara Carr attended the International Black Genealogy Summit in Fort Wayne, Indiana.   Photos of the event have been posted.

Membership in the Black Family Genealogy & History Society is NOT limited to African-American research.  Its members have ancestors from a wide range of states and countries.
