Join Henry
Louis Gates, Jr. as he profiles the ancestry of eleven famous Americans
and the historical events that brought their immigrant ancestors to this
country. "Faces of America", a four-part television series, begins
Wednesday, February 10th, at 8 PM on Channel 8.
The next meeting of the BFGHS will take place
Saturday, February 20th, at the Roosevelt District Tech Center, located
at 6029 South Seventh Street in Phoenix. The Beginner's
Workshop will commence at 11:15 AM, followed by the regular
monthly meeting and presentation from noon to 2 PM.
The Maricopa County Public Library system has used proceeds
from its dedicated county tax revenues to purchase a subscription
to Ancestry Library Edition and HeritageQuest for local municipal library
systems. Although Ancestry is limited to in-library use only,
HeritageQuest is accessible remotely via the Phoenix Public Library
website. Look for it under the 'Research' tab.
On the weekend of October 29th-31, 2009, Dr. Mordecai Spriggs
and Ms Barbara Carr attended the International Black Genealogy Summit
in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Photos of the event
have been posted.
Membership in the Black Family Genealogy &
History Society is NOT limited to African-American
research. Its members have ancestors from
a wide range of states and countries.
